Nervous Australia win Second Test

Australia has taken a 2-0 Test series lead over India after nervously chasing a small total on day four of the Second Test at the Gabba in Brisbane.

The win was set up by a dominant bowling display in the morning session when pacemen Mitch Johnson (4/61) rediscovered his devastating form.

However, the run chase was not without its hiccups after opener David Warner (6) was dismissed following a brutal blow to his hand.

The swashbuckling batsman was clearly in some discomfort, but toughed out a number of overs before Ishant Sharma (3/38) had him caught behind.

And the nerves were slightly jangling when an out-of-touch Shane Watson fell for a duck after trying to hook a bouncing Sharma delivery.

But Chris Rogers (55), along with skipper Steve Smith (27), anchored the innings, plundering a half century before becoming Sharma’s third victim.

Shaun Marsh (17) lost his wicket after trying to flick Umesh Yadav (2/46), only to send a faint edge through to MS Dhoni.

Smith was then run-out six runs from victory, while Brad Haddin (1) again failed with the bat.

But the win was finally sealed when Mitch Marsh (6no) hit a boundary down the ground.
