Search continues for sex offender with violent history

Police are hunting a Victorian registered sex offender who failed to notify authorities of his address and hasn't been seen since.

Nejat Ceylan, 50, may be living in the Roxburgh Park area but police today said they have been unable to find him.

Ceylan went onto the sex offenders register in 2006 for possessing child pornography.

He also has an extensive criminal history of violence, drugs and weapons possession.

Assistant Commissioner Neil Paterson said the 50-year-old has failed to comply with his obligations a number of times.

“When (offenders) are actively avoiding police, the risk of re-offending increases, and the risk of harm to the community increases,” he said.

Police released an image of the man, in the hopes someone recognises him and can provide information about his whereabouts.

Ceylan is described as about 170cm tall, with a medium build, brown eyes, grey hair and beard.
