A Sydney man allegedly doused a woman in lighter fluid and tried to set her on fire before a neighbour stopped him, a court has heard.
Joseph Michael Daley, 37, was refused bail at Central Local Court on Friday.
He has been charged with maliciously throwing lighter fluid on Jamillah Beresford, 34, with the intention of causing grievous bodily harm.

Daley was arrested on Thursday at 7.30pm after police were called to a home in Potts Point.
The court was told there was video of the alleged incident.
Magistrate Les Mabbutt said Daley should remain in custody because of "concerns about the protection of the alleged victim and the community".
Daley is expected to reappear at Central Local Court in June.
