NBN users on higher speeds spikes

More Australians who get their internet through the National Broadband Network are signed up to higher-speed plans than 12 months ago.

NBN Co says the more than half (53 per cent) of homes connected to the network are now on higher-speed tier products - numbering 2.4 million - compared to 16 per cent at the same time last year.

The authority has on Friday attributed the spike to it offering cheaper wholesale pricing to phone and interest providers.
