'Mayhem' after huge explosion at south-western Sydney council depot
A 41-year-old man is in a serious condition after a "massive" oil tank explosion left him seriously burnt while working at a council depot in Sydney's south-west.
Witness Joel Finlay said he heard the explosion just after 11am and turned around to find "mayhem" before a man ran out of the Narellan building on Millwood Avenue.
"There was, like I said, a massive explosion, a boom, sort of, shattered windows and everything like that," Finlay said.

"All you could see was a lot of people moving over there, as I ran over, a man came out with no shirt and lots of burns on him and got hustled into the shed."
Finlay called ambulance crews and a rescue helicopter was sent to the Camden Council depot.

NSW Ambulance Inspector Andrew Cullen said it was a "very challenging scene".
"The man had some serious partial thickness burns to his torso, his arms and face," he said.
"The critical care team stabilised him via intubation and he was airlifted to the burns unit at Royal North Shore Hospital.
"Explosions are always dangerous and this incident could have been much worse."

He was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital.
Finlay said the bang could be heard from as loud as 500 metres away at Narellan Police Station.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
