One million Aussie kids to undergo NAPLAN tests today

A million school kids will start three days of NAPLAN tests today to check if they meet national reading, writing and maths standards.

The man in charge of the tests, Australian Curriculum and Reporting Authority chief executive Rob Randall, says it's normal for children to feel a bit nervous about NAPLAN but they just test what kids should be learning in the classroom anyway.

The annual national literacy and numeracy tests help parents and teachers keep track of where students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 are up to, and how well they've achieved over time.
