Naked man punches NSW police officer

A naked man allegedly caused a female police officer serious injury by punching her in the face as officers sought to subdue him at Junee, in New South Wales' Riverina region, last night. 

Officers responding to reports of a man running around and acting irrationally about 7pm found a naked 18-year-old in a paddock, police said. 

As police attempted to speak to him, he allegedly rushed at them and punched a female senior constable in the face before being subdued.

The officer suffered a fractured hard roof palate to her mouth and was taken to Wagga Rural Referral Hospital then to Canberra Hospital for surgery.

The man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a police officer on duty, assaulting an officer in execution of duty, and resisting arrest.

He was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Bail Court on Saturday.
