MPs should back plebiscite vote: Cormann

Another senior figure in the Turnbull government says parliament should abide by any decision of the Australian people to support same-sex marriage.
Finance Minister Mathias Cormann, who supports the status quo of marriage being between a man and a woman, backs the decision to hold a plebiscite on the issue after the next federal election.
"Yes of course, the parliament would have to abide by whatever judgment is made by the Australian people," he told ABC radio on Monday.
