The epicentre of the infectious and deadly tuberculosis disease is on Australia's doorstep and federal politicians are coming together to fight it.

A group of parliamentarians, led by MPs Warren Entsch and Matt Thistlethwaite, will on Tuesday hold an Australian Tuberculosis Caucus to draw attention to the impacts of the disease.

Tuberculosis kills about 1.5 million a year and 60 per cent of cases are in the Asia Pacific region.
