MP warns of gay marriage 'issue fatigue'

A Liberal MP has warned the longer debate on a plebiscite drags on there was an increased risk gay marriage would suffer "issue fatigue".

Warren Entsch has penned an opinion piece for The Australian arguing that every issue has its time in the sun, when the national conversation is at its peak.

"But when that moment passes, it can be years before momentum again reaches the point for change," he said adding that although a plebiscite was not his preferred option, it was the only way forward.
