MP defends PM's one trip to WA hustings

One of Malcolm Turnbull's senior colleagues has defended the amount of time the prime minister has spent campaigning for the WA state election.

Mr Turnbull has only been to Perth once during the campaign in the run up to Saturday's poll.

"He went once and I've been once, and I want the Barnett Government to be re-elected. They're a good government," cabinet minister Christopher Pyne told the Nine Network on Friday.

Mr Pyne headed to Western Australia on Wednesday and said the feeling was very positive for the Barnett government.

"He deserves to be re-elected and I fully expect that he will be re-elected on Saturday," he said.

Labor frontbencher Anthony Albanese was keeping a wait-and-see approach but labelled the government out-of-touch.

"Tomorrow it should be out of office," he added.

Mr Albanese also warned the Barnett government shouldn't be re-elected by mistake because of the preferences deal the Liberals have done with One Nation.
