Mounted police used to control over 500 protesters at Adelaide University

Police on horseback were brought in to help contain a rally at Adelaide University yesterday as over 500 student protesters gathered to picket a speech by Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
The mounted police were used to push back the crowd after several protesters pushed over a fence surrounding the lecture theatre where Mr Abbott was scheduled to speak.
Protesters gathered earlier in the afternoon, expressing their dissatisfaction with the government on issues from its changes to the university fee system and its asylum seeker policy.

Two protesters were reportedly injured during the police horses’ advance.
South Australian police said no arrests were made.
