Man 'smashes car into servo' after pregnant woman flees vehicle

A man has fronted court after allegedly ploughing his car into a Melbourne service station following a fight with a pregnant woman overnight.

Authorities said it was just after 1.20am when the pair were believed to be arguing in a car, parked at a Caltex Service Station, in Mount Waverley.

The 32-year-old woman got out of the Honda SUV, with facial injuries, seeking refuge inside the Caltex Star.

It is then that a 37-year-old man allegedly put his foot to the accelerator, ramming the vehicle into the front of the service station.

The incident sparked a quick response from emergency services, who arrived at the scene to find a significant amount of damage.

The front glass of the service station shattered, while the walls of the store were smashed in.

A 37-year-old man was arrested at the scene, before being charged with a string of offences including intentionally and recklessly causing injury.

He faced the Ringwood Magistrates court today, where he was remanded in custody. He is expected to re-appear in court on October 3. The woman was taken to the Monash Hospital, suffering from facial injuries.

The store attendant, a 24-year-old man, also suffered minor injuries in the crash but will make a fully recovery.
