Motorists at wits’ end attempt wild manoeuvres to beat Sydney traffic

Sydney drivers are desperately attempting to avoid traffic gridlock in any way possible - even if it means breaking the law.

M7 footage reveals car-after-car recklessly ditching the road for the median strip to avoid traffic on Norwest Boulevard at Bella Vista – a daredevil solution born out of frustration.

“We understand their frustration but I can’t support them breaking the law,” Roads Minister Duncan Gay said.

NSW Coalition and Labor parties are arguing over the best solutions for our congested streets, and now the NRMA has entered the State election campaign - urging both sides to just fix it.

The incidents have pushed the NRMA to enter the election campaign in a series of radio ads that started today.

“On election day, support the local candidate most able to deliver better roads and public transport,” NRMA President Kyle Loades said.

NRMA says it's heartened by the roads policies of both major parties - as long as construction begins.

Government figures show if nothing is done in 15 years, an extra 22,000 cars a day would use the M4, almost 30,000 more cars on the M5 and 16,000 more on Parramatta Road.

Mr Gay says that the Westconnex project is the best way to fix congestion.
