Motorcyclist 'left for dead' after sickening hit-run

A motorcyclist has told 9NEWS he was left for dead in the middle of a busy Adelaide intersection after a sickening hit-run.

Security cameras captured the shocking moment father-of-three David Baker was struck by a car with the driver fleeing the scene.

"They left me for dead," Mr Baker said.

The 52-year-old was travelling south on Hutt Street, when the driver, who was turning right onto South Terrace, failed to give way.

The impact sent the experienced rider flying over the top of the vehicle and crashing to the ground.

Mr Baker was left lying badly injured in the middle of the road.

"It's very easy to sort of lose your faith in people when people do something like that," he said.

Horrified witnesses rushed to his aid.

"They formed a little crowd around me to make sure I was nice and safe because it's a busy intersection that time of night," Mr Baker said.

He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious injuries.

"I've got a broken collarbone just in here, and I had a very badly dislocated shoulder which took two goes to get in," Mr Baker said.

He will undergo an MRI scan to determine the extent of the damage to his shoulder.

"Very lucky, I'm very lucky," he said.

Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident and have interviewed a number of witnesses since the hit-run last Wednesday.

Mr Baker has appealed from his hospital bed for the driver of the car to come forward.

"Perhaps they panicked, I don't know, but I would just encourage them now is a good time to do the right thing," he said.
