Pair rushed to hospital and man arrested after violent stabbing

Two people are in hospital and another man in police custody after a stabbing in Adelaide's south.

Police were called to a home on Edith Street in Morphett Vale just after 2.30pm today following reports of the stabbing during an unfolding assault.

Officers arrived to find one man with several wounds to his back and a woman with cuts to her hands.

The male suspect believed to be responsible for the attack was found nearby and arrested, however as police put him in handcuffs, the injured female lashed out at him – causing another scuffle.

Multiple officers struggled to contain the violence, however afterwards the male victim rushed to Flinders Medical Centre in a serious condition.

The female victim was treated on the scene before also being taken to the same hospital.

It is understood all three people are known to each other.

The male suspect is being interviewed by police as part of the investigation into the incident.

Local resident Sue Bell told 9NEWS the noise from the assault could be heard from neighbouring properties.

“I heard a big fight going on just an hour ago and I heard the woman scream out, ‘I can’t take it, I can’t take it, get out,’” she said.

“It is scary, I was actually feeling a bit disturbed and scared.”
