Another three Victorian level crossings will be removed under a $457 million blitz.

The state government will fund crossing removals at Glen Iris, Blackburn and Ormond in Tuesday's 2014/15 budget, creating about 1000 new construction jobs.

Treasurer Michael O'Brien said the three crossings were the worst in the state and their removal would provide relief for more than 80,000 motorists.

The government is providing more than $1 billion in the budget to remove eight level crossings across Melbourne.

The Labor opposition has pledged to remove 50 of Melbourne's worst level crossings if it wins the November state election.
