More surgery at Tasmania's Mersey hospital

Tasmanians will no longer be bumped from the elective surgery list because of emergencies under a plan to expand Mersey Hospital.

The Tasmanian government has released its health white paper, which includes plans to prevent the cancellation of 4000 elective surgeries each year by expanding Mersey Hospital's surgery centre.

It's expected about 75 per cent of the state's elective procedures will take place at the hospital in Tasmania's north.
