More money for family violence coming

The federal government will consult with the states and territories before announcing more money to address family violence.

The government has come under fire, including from Australian of the Year Rosie Batty, for providing only $30 million in this week's budget for domestic violence programs.

"That's not the end of the story," Treasurer Joe Hockey told ABC radio on Thursday, adding Prime Minister Tony Abbott is planning to talk to state premiers before announcing further action.
