More charges possible for woman who allegedly stole ring from family raising money for toddler’s medical treatment

Further victims have come forward after a woman allegedly stole a $7000 ring from a family trying to fund the treatment of a sick toddler, with more charges likely.

Police are investigating a widening ring of claims as they questioned the Sydney woman over three counts of fraud today.

Tanya Mondovska, 25, tried to avoid the 9NEWS camera outside Liverpool Police Station today but was helpless as police rearrested her and escorted her back inside to face further questions.

She had earlier been charged over the theft of a diamond ruby ring from Ina and David Mills, who were trying to sell the ring through Gumtree to raise money for their son Roki’s medical treatment.

She refused to talk to 9NEWS as she was led inside, covering her face and repeatedly asking reporters to leave.

The Mills family just wants the $7000 which police allege Ms Mondovska defrauded them by presenting them with a false bank transfer receipt.

Others have also come forward to claim Ms Mondovska has scammed them, including Eleena Ariton.

Ms Ariton was selling her engagement and wedding rings on Gumtree and claims she was defrauded of $3800.

“You cannot trust anyone, that’s what I have learnt,” she said.

Ms Ariton said her “heart broke” when she heard about the Mills family.

Investigators are now looking into whether more charges can be laid against Ms Mondovska, and say they are following “strong leads” to recover the allegedly stolen jewellery.
