Friends have paid tribute to a "thoughtful" and "generous" woman found dead in a home on Melbourne's bayside.

Police were called to James Street in Mordialloc just before 11am on Thursday and found the bodies of 41-year-old Sandra Dobrila and a 38-year-old St Kilda man.

It's understood they were initially found by one of the victim's colleagues, who went to the home after they failed to show up to work.

Dobrila's friends told 9News she was a thoughtful, generous and vivacious woman.

It's understood she had moved from Croatia to Australia just a few years ago.

Police are still working to establish the relationship between the pair but said they were not searching for anyone else in their investigation.
