The search for a missing fisherman on the New South Wales South Coast will resume today.

Emergency services were called to Batemans Bay marina at about 8pm on Saturday after a man failed to return from a day's fishing trip.

Police were told the 56-year-old man had left the marina at about 6am in an eight-metre Arvor cruiser.

He was last in contact with somebody at about 10am.

A sea and air search was launched and continued throughout Saturday night and into Sunday, but neither the man nor the boat were found.

The search resumed today from first light.
