Missing Sydney bushwalkers found in Blue Mountains

A Sydney couple who went missing while bushwalking has been found safe and well after sleeping overnight in a cave in the New South Wales Blue Mountains.

Emergency crews had been searching for Hyung Lee, 65, and his wife Kyunghye Lee, 63, after they failed to return from a three-hour walk along the Florabella Pass, west of Penrith, yesterday.

Police said the couple caught a train to the Blue Mountains from their Strathfield home before 8am, with concerned relatives raising the alarm when they did not return.

The couple walked into a backyard in Glenbrook this morning after braving a cold night of below zero temperatures, unprepared for an overnight stay.

“We found a small cave. We (slept) there,” Mr Lee said. 

The pair were brought to Warrimoo Public School where they were checked over by paramedics.

A search involving police, paramedics and a rescue helicopter had been set to resume this morning after crews looked for the Strathfield couple until 2am.
