Taxpayers forked out more than $3000 to repair walls and change ministerial name plates in Parliament House after Malcolm Turnbull ousted Tony Abbott.

Labor senator Penny Wong asked the Department of Parliamentary Services to provide details and costs of office shifts and glass name plaques in the wake of September's leadership change, which also triggered a ministerial reshuffle.

The total came to $3045, including $1330 spent cleaning, painting and patching walls in what was Mr Turnbull's ministerial office in order for Cabinet Secretary Arthur Sinodinos to move in.
