Ministers seek annual reporting on CSG

State and federal energy ministers have asked for a report to be produced each year detailing the extent of coal seam gas and other "unconventional" gas activity.

The report, to be produced by the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association, will be the first regular national stocktake of information on the number of wells drilled, land access agreements, community engagement and tax revenue earned from the industry.

Federal Resources Minister Josh Frydenberg said on Friday the meeting of the COAG Energy Council in Canberra had agreed coal seam gas is now a "fundamental part of Australia's energy mix".
