The US actor who shot to fame as the Miller High Life Guy in a series of beer commercials has died aged 36.

Windell Middlebrooks was found unconscious at his home in San Fernando Valley, US media has reported.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His cause of death has not been released, but police have said they do not suspect foul play.

Middlebrooks was best-known for his role as the straight-talking Delivery Guy in a series of Miller beer commercials.

However, he also appeared on a number of TV shows including Scrubs, Cougar Town, Parks and Recreation, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and the Bernie Mac Show.

"He connected with people so naturally because he was one of the kindest, most genuine folks around," A MillerCoors spokesperson told TMZ.

Middlebrooks's family released a statement asking for privacy as they mourned.

"It was Windell's biggest wish that his final scene not be lived on social media," the family said.
