Metre-long snake found under boy's pillow

A Brisbane boy won't be sleeping well after discovering a metre-long tree snake under his pillow.

Video posted to Facebook by Snake Catchers Brisbane shows a snake catcher lifting up a pillow (with a Spiderman pillowslip) to see the serpent coiled at the head of the warm bed.

He gently lifts the slithering reptile to put it into a bag.

"I wonder how many of you will be checking under your pillows each night after seeing this video?" the caption on the video read.

"This Forest Lake snake capture was one of many we get not only inside houses but sometimes even in beds!"

Common tree snakes, or dendrelaphis punctulata, are widespread in Australia's north and eastern coastal area, but are non-venomous.

When threatened, they produce a horrible odour but will typically try to escape rather than bite humans.

"It's a Common Tree Snake but we have on numerous occasions had eastern browns and red bellied black snakes in the same situation," the company wrote on its Facebook page.
