Record drug money haul seized in Western Australia

Two brothers are behind bars after Western Australia police announced a record alleged drug bust.

Officers seized $3.88 million they claimed was being trafficked across the state border, along with 13 kilos of methamphetamine from a ute at the Perth home.

Police claim the meth was seized from a ute parked at 29-year-old Shaun Wayne Kelly's Lockridge home.

His 27-year-old brother Matthew James Kelly has also been charged with drug possession.

The money, meanwhile, was allegedly seized from a truck crossing the border.

Detectives have accused a 58-year-old NSW man of moving the cash haul across the border on September 19.

Police said they would allege the man was a "significantly important player" in an organised crime ring, though not the mastermind.

In all, five people have been arrested.

Police say while these were targeted seizures, Western Australia's hard border has been instrumental in slowing the flow of drugs into the state.

Another bust on the weekend saw 10kg of meth seized from a Dianella home, also in Perth.

Three men, including Perth DJ Mathieu Francois Valton, were charged over that haul.

Police say the two busts resulted in almost a quarter of a million hits of meth being taken off Perth streets.
