Meningococcal scare at Qld child care

Doctors will inspect a Brisbane child care centre after a toddler was diagnosed with meningococcal disease.

The 20-month-old boy is in a stable condition at The Prince Charles Hospital, but health officers will meet staff and offer antibiotics to other children who have spent time with the boy in recent weeks.

Authorities are hopeful the antibiotics will prevent the disease from spreading further.
