Men refused bail after ram-raid causes $2.5m worth of damage to Perth store

Two men have been refused bail over a ram-raid at a Perth Target that caused an estimated $2.5m in damage.

Just after 11pm last night a stolen Land Rover Discovery was smashed through the doors of the Meadow Springs Target and burst into flames.

The fire set off the store's internal sprinklers – destroying the interior and huge amounts of stock.

The four-wheel-drive's owner Neil Tondut said a man broke into his house through an unlocked door and stole his keys from a bench.

"I shot out through the front door and got within three metres and then guy slammed the door and took off straight through the security gates," Mr Tondut told 9NEWS.

With the damage bill expected to run into the millions, the store will remain close for some time – a major blow ahead of Christmas shopping.

Today police charged a 35-year-old Ocean Reef man and 37-year-old Greenfields man with several offences including aggravated burglary, stealing a motor vehicle, criminal damage and stealing.

After an appearance in Mandurah Magistrates Court both were refused bail, and are set to appear via videolink on November 18.
