Men ‘broke into fire station while crews were out on job’

A man is set to face court after allegedly breaking into a fire station while firefighters were responding to an emergency.
NSW Fire & Rescue crews at the Bankstown Fire Station, in western Sydney, last night were called to a job in Yagoona at about 8pm.
It is alleged that while they were absent from the building on the Hume Highway, two men, aged 29 and 38, broke in.
Police allege the men forced open several lockers in the fire station and stole a number of personal items.
The two men were arrested at a hotel on the Hume Highway at Bass Hill.
The 38-year-old man has been charged with break and enter, goods in custody, malicious damage and breach of bail. He was refused bail and is set to appear at Bankstown Local Court later today.
The 29-year-old was released pending further inquiries.
