Melissa McCarthy puts on hilariously messy Lip Sync Battle performance
Actress Melissa McCarthy did not hold back while competing in a Lip Sync Battle, performing with the help of numerous props and weather effects.
While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote her new film The Boss, McCarthy agreed to face the host in a lip sync battle.
"I don't get nervous a lot," she told Fallon.
"But I am pretty freaked out about crushing you."
Fallon opened the challenge with a performance of Melanie's "Brand New Key" – complete with pantomime roller skating – and followed it up with Zayn’s ‘PillowTalk’, bringing his own pillow to the stage.
McCarthy started out with an enthusiastic performance of DMX's ‘X Gon' Give It To Ya’ but it was her closing rendition of Pocahontas’ ‘Colors of the Wind’ which stole the show.
She donned a pair of protective glasses before taking the stage and the audience quickly found out why, as she was sprayed with water and was hit with a stuffed heron, otter and a wolf thrown at her from offstage.
McCarthy’s performance was complimented by gales of wind, bringing along leaves, streamers and finally a deluge of glitter confetti which stuck to her face, glasses and mouth.
The crowd gave her a standing ovation and Fallon doubled over in laughter as McCarthy bowed and tried to remove mounds of glitter from her mouth.
She was, of course, crowned the champion.
