Police then arrested a 49-year-old who lives in a nearby unit.

He remains in custody but has not been charged.

Neighbours have said they heard three shots in quick succession about 8pm, with one saying they thought "it was actually a fire cracker going off".

In a statement, police said they do not believe the death is linked to other recent shootings.

It is believed there was an altercation between the victim and the shooter right before the attack.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or with dashcam footage or CCTV is urged to contact police.
