Scuba diver dies at Rye Pier off Melbourne's Mornington Peninsula
A scuba diver has drowned after they were found unconscious in the water near Rye Pier on Melbourne's Mornington Peninsula.
Emergency services were called to the waterside at about 10am this morning.
Police said the man was located unconscious in the water by other scuba divers.
The diver was pulled onto the pier while the other divers tried to perform CPR.

When emergency services arrived at the scene, they continued their attempts to revive the diver.
Sadly the man died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.
Police will investigate the exact circumstances around the incident and prepare a report for the coroner.
The death follows the drowning of a family of four near Phillip Island in late January, the worst Victorian drowning event in almost 20 years.
