Melbourne school girl fights off predator

A 15-year-old schoolgirl was assaulted behind a shopping centre while walking to school in Reservoir, in Melbourne’s north.

Police said the teen was walking down a lane at the back of a Plenty Road shopping centre on the morning of August 22 when she was approached by a man in an orange high-vis jumper.

She told police she pushed the man away after he made an "inappropriate comment" and tried to indecently assault her.

He then fled the scene.

Detectives from Epping Sexual Offence and Child Abuse Investigation Team have released CCTV footage of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He was wearing an orange jumper at the time and is perceived to be of Indian appearance.

He is believed to be aged in his 20s, and had on black boots and a black baseball cap at the time.
