Car driven wrong way down busy Melbourne freeway

A man has been arrested after allegedly driving the wrong way down a busy Melbourne freeway.

Dashcam video captured the moment the car drove towards oncoming vehicles on the Princes Freeway near Pakenham at about 8.45am today.

The car was followed by police to a service station in Officer South.

Police allege the driver, a 35-year-old man, rammed a police car before he was detained.

The man and his 21-year-old female passenger were arrested about 9.30am.

No one was injured in the incident.
