Melbourne printing factory fire deemed suspicious

More than 30 firefighters were called in to battle a blaze at a printing factory in Melbourne’s west overnight, which authorities believe was deliberately lit.

Several residents called Triple Zero to report the fire just before 9pm, as plumes of smoke billowed from the building near the corner of Dryburgh and Adderley Streets in West Melbourne.

Sprinklers were used to contain the flames, and surrounding streets were closed off during the firefighting efforts.

Fire crews wore breathing apparatus as they worked to target the centre of the fire.

The blaze has since been brought under control.

Last night, a community warning was issued for residents in the North and West Melbourne areas due to concerns about smoke inhalation.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
