Melbourne restaurant to close after scooter stunt goes wrong

A Melbourne business owner says he can't keep going after a scooter stunt gone wrong forced his business to close this week.

The large front window of 113 Eatery was broken after a man fell off his scooter while trying to pull off a spin trick in Northcote.

CCTV footage captured the moment the entire window caved in as shards of glass fell onto the rider.

The rider reached out and offered to help pay for the $4000 repair, but after opening just a year ago, owner Lorenzo Tron said he has had too much "bad luck" to handle.

"Every time you try and get head above water, you are pushed back down," he said.

"We weren't able to qualify for rent relief, shortage of staff, couple of break-ins and now the window, only so much a man can take.

"This location is done for us. It's been really tough."

Tron will serve customers until August 14, after that he will close his doors and focus on his other restaurants in Pascoe Vale and Moonee Ponds.
