A Melbourne man is fighting for his life after he was allegedly stabbed by his brother during a row.

Police were called to a Raleigh Street home in Windsor, in Melbourne’s south-east, shortly after 2am after receiving reports of two men arguing.

Both men had left the home by the time police arrived.

It is believed one man was visiting his mother at the time when he got into an argument with his brother.

Nearby resident Patrick Cullen said he heard the pair arguing.

“I just heard loud screaming and male aggression and a female going ‘if you don’t stop, I’m going to call the police’,” he said.

The injured man, 26, presented himself to the Alfred Hospital with multiple stab wounds to his face and neck some time later.

He is in a critical condition and is believed to be undergoing surgery.

The investigation continues and no arrests have yet been made.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
