Melbourne family escapes house fire

The blaze started at 3am in the home in Melbourne's south-east.
A family of eight has escaped uninjured after the carport adjoining their home caught fire in Melbourne's south-east overnight.
The blaze, which broke out at the Clarinda property at around 3am, spread inside the house causing extensive damage.

Two cars were also destroyed. A child at home at the time saw the fire from a window and alerted the rest of the family.
One man was taken to hospital with head injuries.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
