Beautiful weather forecast for Cup Day as Victorians enjoy freedom
Victorians are set to enjoy a warm, sunny day as the Melbourne Cup gets underway after the state's final public holiday in lockdown.
While 10,000 racing fans are headed to Flemington Racecourse today, thousands of others are enjoying a long weekend getaway, preparing to host a barbeque with family and friends or hitting up a venue to enjoy the day.
It comes after spectators weren't allowed at the Melbourne Cup last year and just days after the whole of Victoria has been reunited, with Melbourne freed from many COVID-19 restrictions.

The weather has also come to the party for the celebratory day, with the Bureau of Meteorology's Michael Laczko confirming Cup Day is "looking like a lovely warm, sunny day".
Melbourne is expected to reach a top of 30C with sun all day.
The easing of COVID-19 restrictions in Victoria on Friday night meant thousands of Melburnians have flocked to coastal towns and the beach.
Victorians are allowed to have up to 10 people in their homes for get-togethers while restaurants, cafes and bars are open for business, allowed to welcome one patron per four square metres.
