COVID-19 restrictions have further eased in Victoria just in time for the Melbourne Cup long weekend, with a raft of changes set to come into effect tomorrow.

Due to no crowds being permitted at last year's races and tough restrictions, the city and the regions are set to be buzzing with excited racegoers and holidaymakers this year.

The state is set to hit its 80 per cent vaccination milestone within days and restrictions have now eased further.

Can I go to the races this Melbourne Cup long weekend?

Up to 10,000 fully vaccinated people will be permitted to attend Flemington Racecourse this Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday.

While a crowd of up to 5500 fully vaccinated spectators has been given the green light to attend Derby Day on Saturday.

What will the races look like with COVID-19 restrictions?

Spectators are set to be separated into different seating zones and food and drinks will only be able to be served as part of table service.

The wearing of masks will also be mandatory.

How many people can gather at my home?

Visitors to homes over the Melbourne Cup long weekend will be limited to 10 people per day - unchanged from the 70 per cent vaccination milestone, despite the state easing restrictions on Friday.

This means for house parties or Cup Day barbecues, your guest list must be capped at 10 people.

How many people can gather in public outdoors?

If you are eyeing off a Melbourne Cup long weekend picnic, or a trip to the beach, you are in luck as the number of people permitted to gather outside has increased from 15 to 30.

Yes, Victorians are now permitted to go regional Victoria, bringing metropolitan Melbourne and the regions together for the Cup weekend.

Similarly, regional Victorians will be permitted to travel to Melbourne.

What are the restrictions for cafes, pubs and restaurants?

Hospitality venues will be able to increase their capacity to a density limit of one person per four square metres.

A maximum of 500 people will be allowed outdoors at venues that are large enough.

What about entertainment venues?

Cinemas, theatres, nightclubs and karaoke venues will reopen to fully vaccinated people in line with capacity limits.
