Melbourne's lockdown longer than coronavirus epicentre Wuhan
Melbourne's lockdown has surpassed the original length of Wuhan's as a bulk of suburbs in the city's north and west mark their 78th day of isolation.
The city's 10 'hotspot' postcodes encompassing 36 suburbs went into lockdown about two-and-a-half months ago on July 2, making their isolation period longer than the Chinese city's 77-day lockdown between January and April.
The rest of Melbourne is set to exceed Wuhan's lockdown next week, becoming one of the world's harshest isolation periods.

Wuhan has been known as the epicentre of coronavirus, the province of Hubei marking around 70,000 coronavirus cases, with Victoria just 19,970 infections as of today.
Melbourne's strict roadmap out of lockdown shows the city could still have a number of restrictions in place until November 23 and some thereafter.
"I think Wuhan was under lockdown for two-and-a-half months. Believe it or not, Melbourne will be under lockdown for three-and-a-half months," Health Minister Greg Hnt said earlier this month.
"I think that will as astonish people when they see that comparison."
Victoria recorded 28 new cases of COVID-19 today – a new low since June 24 – and a further eight deaths.
