A 26-year-old man has been charged with murder after another man's body was found with stab wounds at a property in Melbourne's inner west.

A man has been charged with murder after a body was discovered with stab wounds in Melbourne's inner west.

Two men, aged 26 and 21, were arrested by homicide detectives after the body was found at a property in Maidstone on Friday night.

The 26-year-old has been charged with one count of murder, Victoria Police say, while the 21-year-old has been released.

Investigators believe the dead man and the pair were known to each other.
