Woman 'held captive with screwdriver' in elevator

Police are investigating after a woman was stalked and threatened inside a Melbourne apartment building.

Security vision shows the male suspect wearing a white cap emblazoned with ‘WEST’ at the Little Lonsdale Street block about 3.30am on August 3.

It’s believed he followed a female resident into the elevator, before threatening her with a screwdriver.

The victim was able to run from the lift to the safety of her unit, evading the man who then fled the scene.

He is described as having an Asian appearance, being between 163-165 centimetres tall and was wearing a dark-coloured hoodie at the time of the offence.

Investigations are ongoing.
