Measles alert issued after confirmed case in Adelaide’s northeast

A measles alert has been issued for Adelaide's northeast after an infected child attended two different schools over the past week.

SA Health confirmed that a 12-year-old girl contracted the illness and was contagious when she attended Ardtornish Primary School at St Agnes and Modbury High School at Modbury between November 30 and December 4.

The girl had recently travelled to Bali, SA Health Chief Public Health Officer Professor Paddy Phillips said.

Anyone who attended the schools at the same time as the girl should be alert for symptoms including fever, cough, sore eyes and a blotchy rash, Professor Phillips said.

He also urged others to ensure they were immunised against measles.
