Urgent recall issued for defective Mazda vehicles
Mazda is urgently recalling more than 35,000 vehicles believed to be defective.
The massive recall applies to diesel-powered Mazda 3s built between 2014 and 2016, Mazda 6s built between 2012 and 2018, Mazda CX-5s built between 2012 and 2018.
These vehicles may accumulate carbon deposits in the intake shutter valve and suffer premature wear of certain engine components, Mazda said.

Drivers may experience a gradual drop in engine power, multiple warning lights on the dashboard, an increase in vehicle stopping distance, potential engine stall with no re-start and smoke emitting from the engine, the company said.
Anyone driving one of the affected vehicles were at an increased risk of accident or injury.
Mazda said it would inspect all recalled models and if required fix any defective vehicles. It will also complete a software update to the Engine Control Module at no charge.
