Partner of wealthy farmer to remain behind bars over alleged murder

The former partner of wealthy grazier Mathew Dunbar, who maintains her husband killed himself, will face court today after being charged with his murder.

Natasha Beth Crossman was arrested on Saturday at a Walcha sheep farm in northern New South Wales, where Mr Dunbar was found dead on August 2.

The 42-year-old was taken into custody yesterday and charged with his murder.

Ms Crossman allegedly attempted to buy ram sedatives from a local vet, The Daily Telegraph reports.

The report claims a Walcha Veterinary Clinic employee refused to sell Ms Crossman the tranquilliser because neither she nor Mr Dunbar owned rams.

Police will use dealings between the vet employee and Ms Crossman, as well as her recent Google searches, as evidence in their case against her, the report alleges.

Mr Dunbar was allegedly found connected to a helium gas tank at the property on Thunderbolts Way, a short drive out of Walcha.

Homicide squad detectives began investigating a few days later.

Ms Crossman has maintained her partner took his own life.

"I was there – I know he killed himself. But I mean (the police) have to investigate," she earlier told The Daily Telegraph.

"I'm dealing with post-traumatic stress because I was the one that found him."

A few days after Mr Dunbar’s death, police announced they were "treating the death of Mathew Dunbar as suspicious".

Ms Crossman will appear in court again today.
