Man charged after Sydney party bottle attack allegedly assaulting woman who tried to intervene

A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting another man with a bottle at a party in Sydney's south before attacking a woman who tried to intervene.

Police said a 25-year-old man had left the apartment in Coward Street in Mascot at 11.45pm on Friday.

As he was leaving, he was allegedly approached by man, who hit him in the head with a bottle.

A 22-year-old woman tried to intervene, but the second man allegedly grabbed her around the throat.

The 25-year-old man and woman fled and flagged down officers from South Sydney Police Area Command.

Police gave the 25-year-old man first aid, and he was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

The later arrested a 21-year-old man at Bilga Crescent, Malabar, at 4.30pm yesterday.

He will face at Waverley Local Court today charged with assault, as well as drug possession.
