Man charged after slashing in Sydney beachside suburb

A man has been charged after two men were allegedly slashed during a fight in the Sydney beachside suburb of Maroubra overnight.

A 30-year-old man allegedly broke into a vehicle which was parked on Hannan Street at 9pm on Thursday.

The vehicle's owner, a 28-year-old man, and another man, aged 67, confronted the suspect and attempted to lock him inside.

The 30-year-old forced his way out, allegedly produced a knife and slashed at them.

The 67-year-old man suffered a wound to his face, and the 28-year-old man was wounded on his arm.

They restrained the man until police arrested him.

Both were taken to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment.

The suspect was treated for a head injury at St Vincent's Hospital, before being taken to Maroubra Police Station.

He was charged with two counts of wound with intent, enter vehicle without consent, possess housebreaking implements having previous conviction and goods in custody suspected stolen.

He was refused bail to appear before Waverley Local Court today.
